Face of the Day: Bold Green Eyes
For this look, I drew my inspiration from the look of dark hazel eyes, which just happens to be my eye color. The only eye shadows used are green and brown, with deep black eyeliner. This look isn’t so bold that I wouldn’t wear it on a normal day, but it’s definitely not a look I would wear in an office setting.
Revlon Colorstay for Normal/Dry Skin $9.99 at Target, $12.99 at Walgreens, $13.49 at CVS
NYX HD Photogenic Concealer $4.99 at Ulta
Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel in Rosy $18 at Target
Pixi Blush in Perkiest Pink $18 at Target
NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation $9.49 at Ulta
Urban Decay De Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray $29 at Ulta, Sephora, urbandecay.com
Because the eyes are the focus of this look, I wanted the complexion to be as even, matte, and perfected as possible. I used Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation, which is a good medium to full coverage foundation and NYX HD Concealer for blemishes and the under-eye area. I also wanted to keep the complexion as simple as possible so I didn’t use any bronzer, contouring or highlighting, just Pixi’s Sheer Cheek Gel to provide a natural looking flush, topped with Pixi’s Blush in Perkiest Pink to brighten the look. I finished with De Slick Setting Spray to prevent shine and take away any powdery look. After all, I want a matte complexion, not a cakey one.

This look is all about bright, bold green eyes. I started by lining my eyes with UD’s 24/7 pencil in Mildew, extending the eyeliner into a long wing to create a template for the rest of the look. Next I filled in the entire lid with Kush, a bright grass green with golden shimmer, then blended Mildew, a muted mossy green with a subtle gold shift, throughout the crease and the area above the crease. To define the eyeshadow, I applied Twice Baked, a deep chocolate brown with gold glitter through the crease and blended everything to soften it.
To add depth, I lined my upper and lower waterlines with NARS Larger than Life eyeliner pencil in Via Veneto, which is black, curled my lashes and applied a few coats of Diorshow waterproof mascara. The black eyeliner mimics the black ring around my irises, which frames the brown and green hazel colors, which are represented in the eyeshadow. To finish the eye look and frame my face, I used the NARS eyeshadow single Coconut Grove to fill my brows and Anastasia’s clear Brow Gel to set them.
I used Sweet Watermelon, a pretty, shimmery pink color to complement the pink cheeks and keep the face soft so the eyes are the focus. *click here to see my full review on Neutrogena’s MoistureSmooth Color Sticks*
