I only recently started trying L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows, but I like what I’ve tried so far. The Summer 2013 Miss Candy Collection features four colorful summer shades. It doesn’t feature any neutral highlight or defining shades, but there are plenty of those in the permanent collection, which can be used to put together an entire eye look using only Infallible eye shadows.
L’Oreal Infallible eye shadows are somewhere between a pigment and a pressed eye shadow. They’re a loose shadow housed in a plastic pot with a twist off lid; beneath the lid is a plastic piece with a small handle on it that keeps the shadow pressed down.
Infallible eye shadows claim to last for 24 hours without fading or creasing, they’re a unique long wearing powder formula. The Summer 2013 Limited Edition Miss Candy Collection, in the United States, has four colorful shadows:
340 – Dive Right In is a shiny, metallic shade that looks like it has a bit of an aqua and turquoise duo tone quality.
341 – Strawberry Blonde is a shimmery, metallic cool pink with a lilac shift.
342 – With A Twist is a cool purple with an icy blue shimmer.
343 – Cherie Merie is a very orange coral color with a soft satin finish and golden sheen.
Ingredients: I wasn’t able to find the ingredients list for this limited edition collection. I’ll update this section if I am able to locate an ingredients list.
I like that the packaging for Infallible shadows is plastic; it’s much lighter and more travel friendly than the heavy glass pots Maybelline uses for its Color Tattoos, but I’m not fond of the rounded square shape. They don’t stack as easily as if they were simply round or square.
Although I haven’t tested the 24 hour claim, the Infallible formula is very long-wearing. I haven’t had any problems with creasing or fading, even without using a primer. The kinda pressed, semi loose texture of the Infallible formula is unique and not always in a good way. The shades that have more shimmer in them, Strawberry Blonde and With A Twist, seem more flaky and dry, which means they also have more fallout. Cherie Merie isn’t my favorite color in the collection, but it has the best texture, it’s smooth, creamy, applies easily without fallout, and blends easily. I would love if all the Infallible shadows had the same texture as Cherie Merie. My favorite colors in this collection, Dive Right In and With A Twist are unfortunately the ones that are chunkier and flakier.
Pink shades are usually my favorite eyeshadow colors and Strawberry Blonde is a gorgeous, light, cool pink with a lilac shimmer/duo tone quality, but I would prefer if it was more opaque and pigmented, it’s one of the more sheer shadows.
Because they’re so long-wearing and crease resistant, Infallible shadows don’t need a primer, but it definitely helps make the colors more vibrant if you do use one. I love Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue because it’s very tacky, almost sticky, which doesn’t sound like it would be a desirable quality, but it’s perfect for clinging onto glitter or, in this case, a shadow that has problems with fallout.
L’Oreal Infallible eye shadows certainly aren’t perfect, but they’re a very long-wearing formula with some beautiful colors. Overall, I really like them. They’re a bit pricey compared to other eye shadow singles, but there’s quite a lot of product in each one, 3.5 grams, and a little goes a long way. $6.97 at Walmart; $6.99 at Target; $7.99 at Ulta; $8.49 at Walgreens
