Where loose pigments, pressed eyeshadows, and cream eyeshadows intersect, you’ll find L’Oreal’s Infallible eyeshadows. This is going to be pretty long because it includes a review and pictures and swatches of all 18 shadows.
The ProductIn the United States, the L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24 Hour Eye Shdaow line contains 18 single shadows in individual plastic pots. The shadows are described as having a fadeproof, waterproof, crease-resistant formula that gives “ultra intense” color payout and lasts a full 24 hours. L’Oreal describes the Infallible texture as revolutionary, fusing the ease of a powder with the velvety feel of a cream, creating a unique hybrid that glides on effortlessly.
Each loose shadow is housed in a plastic pot with a round, twist-off lid and a rounded square base. Beneath the removable, twist-off lid is a small, round plastic piece with a small handle on it that keeps the loose shadow pressed down into the pot. This plastic piece should not be discarded.

The ReviewAlthough the packaging is a bit cumbersome and not the most travel-friendly, I love these shadows. I’ve never tested the veracity of the 24-hour claim, but I have worn these shadows for about 16-18 hours and found them to be extremely fade resistant and crease resistant. While I wouldn’t call the formula completely waterproof, it is certainly water resistant. The formula is surprisingly long-lasting even without a primer, though with a primer the colors are even more bold and vibrant. One of my favorite qualities of the formula is that it can easily achieve full color or it can be applied sheer for more subtle, wearable looks.
Although the long-wearing formula seems consistent throughout the collection, the texture does not. Most of the Infallible shadows have a wonderfully creamy texture that smooths on nicely, but a few of them are a little powdery. Endless Pearl, which is very similar to In the Buff by Too Faced is one of my favorites in the collection, but is a little dry and powdery compared to the other shadows in the collection, largely because it’s one of the more matte shadows. Matte shadows are almost always more powdery than their metallic counterparts. Smoldering Plum is also a little more dry and powdery than the other shadows.Eternal Sunshine reminds me a bit of Half Baked by Urban Decay; it’s a little lighter, but has the same bright, metallic color and creamy texture – it’s definitely one of my favorites. Endless Sea is probably the most bright, bold, unique, beautiful shade in the collection. It isn’t the type of color I would usually wear; I tend to gravitate towards neutral shades, but it’s stunning and perfect for summer. Amber Rush has one of the best textures in the entire collection and a beautiful peachy nude hue.
The darkest shade in the collection, Eternal Black seems surprisingly smooth, blendable, and easy to work with. I frequently shy away from really intense black shadow because with my fair skin it’s too easy to look like I belong on the Adams Family set, but this one is really easy to work with and makes a great liner.
L’Oreal has created a great formula that’s a combination of a loose pigment, pressed shadow, and cream shadow. Infallible Eye Shadows are long-wearing, fade-resistant, crease-resistant and easily blendable. My favorite shades in the range are: Endless Pearl, Iced Latte, Eternal Sunshine, Endless Sea, Amber Rush, Bronzed Taupe, Bottomless Java, Continuous Cocoa, and Eternal Black. Infallible Eye Shadows are pricey as far as drugstore eyeshadow singles go, but each pot has 3.5 grams of product, which is huge, and they’re a steal by high-end standards. $6.97 at Walmart; $6.99 at Target; $7.95 lorealparisusa.com; $7.99 at Ulta; $8.49 at Walgreens
