This month I’ve tried several new products and relied on some old favorites. My favorites for the month are a combination of both. January has been a particularly hectic month – working long hours pretty much everyday for over two weeks straight. I’ve been pressed for time, busy, and exhausted, so products that work well on the go have been important. This list is kinda long, but all of these products have served me well.
Wet n Wild CoverAll Cream Foundation – This foundation has been a winter lifesaver. It has an amazing, perfect satin finish, good coverage, and neither dries out my skin, nor leaves it oily. The squeeze tube is also great for travel. *see my full review here*
$3.49 at Walgreens, Rite Aid
NYX HD Photogenic Concealer – NYX has really created a great product with this concealer, it’s incredibly pigmented and works well both on blemishes, which I’ve been dealing with all month long, and under-eye darkness. It’s long wearing and doesn’t crease. *featured here in my Daytime Neutrals Face Of The Day*
$4.99 at Ulta
Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel in Flushed – The compact, travel-friendly tube is perfect. I can apply this gel by just patting it in with my fingers and best of all, it creates a really natural-looking winter blush, like when you’ve been outside in the snow and your cheeks are rosy.
$18 at Target
Revlon Photoready Bronzer in 100 Bronzed & Chic – Being very fair, I prefer to contour my face to add some color and dimension. This completely matte bronzer is perfect for contouring. The packaging isn’t the most compact ever, but it’s slim enough. With four different shades, I can get exactly the right color with just one product.
$10.99 at Target, $12.99 at Walgreens
Revlon Photoready Translucent Finisher – This setting powder has the slightest amount of very fine shimmer – it’s hardly detectable on the skin, but it gives a soft-focus, smooth finish to your complexion. I like translucent finishing powders since they don’t make makeup look cakey by adding more pigment with a heavier product.
$10.49 at Target, $13.49 at Walgreens
Too Faced Shadow Insurance Lemon Drop – Again with the travel-friendly tubes, see a theme? With January being such a rough month, my eyelids have had a more ruddy color than usual. This product is a great eyelid primer and color corrector in one. It makes shadows more vibrant and totally crease-proof.
$18 at Sephora, $20 at toofaced.com, Ulta
Too Faced Smokey Eye Shadow Collection – There’s something about the cold, gloomy weather of winter that makes me a bit bolder with my eye looks and this palette makes it easy. The linen, white, and silver highlights, bronze-copper, steel blue, and plum mid-tones, and dark taupe, soft black, and navy blue deep shades are perfect for creating neutral or colorful smoky looks. *see my full review here*
$36 at Sephora, Ulta, toofaced.com
Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette – This is my easy, go-to, travel-friendly everyday eyeshadow palette. It’s almost completely matte and I can create a multitude of looks while on the go with just my sonia kashuk double ended, retractable shadow and crease brush. *see my full review here*
$27 at Sephora, Ulta, urbandecay.com
Dior Diorshow Waterproof Mascara – It seems like no eye product is complete smudge-proof for me, but this mascara is as close as it comes and I love the large bristle brush, it creates great volume, length and holds my curl. Diorshow is an absolute must-have.
$25 at Sephora
NARS Larger than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto – This is another smudge-proof eye product, or as close as it gets for me. This eyeliner is is a rich, deep black, perfect for tight lining. It’s also retractable, which means no sharpening, travel-friendly.
$24 at Sephora
EOS Organic Lip Balm Sphere – My lips get dry, especially in the winter. Lip balm helps keep them moisturized, but I don’t like anything too greasy; eos lips balms are just right.
$2.99 at Target, Walgreens
Tarte Blushing Beauty Bamboo Domed Blush Brush – Okay, I know this brush is supposed to be for blush, but this is a great face powder brush. Its flat, tapered, rounded shape is perfect for getting difficult to reach areas like under your eyes, around your nose, and near your hairline and patting powder onto your face, because a dragging motion can disturb foundation and concealer. *featured here in my Daytime Neutrals Face of the Day post*
$28 at Ulta
Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser – In the winter especially, I don’t want to use a harsh cleanser, but I still want something that will help prevent breakouts. This foaming cleanser is great either on its own or when used with my beloved Clarisonic.
$6.49 at Target, $7.99 at Walgreens, $7.49 at Ulta
Simple Skincare Replenishing Rich Moisturizer – I love this moisturizer. I can use it in a thin layer in the morning, under my makeup or more heavily at night to really moisturize my dry (yet somehow still oily) winter skin. *see my full review here*
$9.99 at Target, $12.99 at Walgreens
No Lift Nails Cuticle Oil – My nails have been peeling and splitting lately. I love this oil. The ingredients list is simple: avocado oil, almond oil, and vitamin e. It does a fantastic job of conditioning my cuticles and nails.
$6.99 at Sally Beauty Supply
Orly Flash Dry – These quick-dry shine drops are a great final step for a scuff-free manicure. These have saved me so much trouble, not to mention hours of waiting for my nails to dry.
$7.99 at Sally Beauty Supply
Organix Moroccan Curling Perfection Defining Cream – Although this cream doesn’t really add any curl to my hair, when I smooth a small amount through my ends while my hair is still wet, it does a great job of reducing frizz and making my waves really soft and silky. $7.99 at Ulta or $7.49 at Walgreens
Ulta Ionic High Volume Detangler – I used to use my regular hair brush when I got out of the shower, but brushing your hair when it’s wet does a lot of damage so I switched to this wide-tooth comb. It detangles and does a good job of lifting my roots without breaking my hair. $1.79 at Ulta
Sephora Snag Free Hair Elastics – Wow. Just wow. These are frickin’ incredible! When I first saw them I thought wha?? they look like vicious rubber bands that aren’t even stretchy, but they’re not. These hair elastics are just amazing. They hold all day long without budging a bit, don’t snag my tangle-ridden hair at all, and yet somehow still slide right out with such ease my boyfriend can slide them out of my hair. I don’t know how they do it, but these are the absolute all star product of the month, perhaps the year, or the century even. They come in packs of 8 and I haven’t broken one yet. I have black, but there’s also brown and clear.
$3.50 at Sephora
