Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadows are some of the best, regardless of price. I wish they offered even more selection, but at least the selection they do offer is great. The Eyeshadow Trios are my favorite of all the Wet n Wild eyeshadows. They’re amazing quality, conveniently sized, and the color combinations are well arranged. Some of the trios are designed to be colorful and fun, while others are more neutral, perfect for everyday use. One such trio is Silent Treatment, which contains three eyeshadow pans appropriately labeled eyelid, crease, and browbone.
The eyelid shade is a beautiful shimmery taupe with a steely purple tone. It’s very well pigmented, glides on smoothly, and doesn’t fade or crease. The texture of this shadow is incredibly velvety and soft. The texture reminds me of the new Urban Decay eyeshadow formula; they feel very similar.
The darkest shade in the palette, the crease shade, is a matte, soft black with golden micro-glitter. It doesn’t glide as smoothly and easily as the eyelid shade does, but that’s characteristic of all matte shades. It does blend well and isn’t blotchy or difficult to blend at all. It can be used lightly to add definition to the crease area or much more concentrated for a deep smoky look.
The lightest shade in the palette, the browbone shade, is a soft, shimmery, peachy shade, perfect for highlighting the inner corner of the eye and, just like the name says, the browbone area, especially just below the eyebrow. The texture of this shade is every bit as soft, and velvety as the eyelid shade, it glides on smoothly, sheer if applied lightly and can be built up for a reasonably opaque color. Although I prefer for highlight shades to be sheer to keep the focus around the eye area and not the highlighted areas.
Although the packaging for these Wet n Wild trios isn’t the most attractive, it is sturdy and slim, there’s no extra bulk. The lid is clear so you can see what colors are in the palette, which is convenient. It’s minimalist and practical. The mini applicator and brush included aren’t the best ways to apply shadow, but they can certainly get the job done, which makes these little compacts great for travel and purse-friendly.
Wet n Wild Color Icon shadows are incredible. These three colors are great neutrals for everyday wear; they’re versatile enough to create a subtle, barely-there look or a deep, smoky look. And, at $2.99 for three large pans of eyeshadow, they’re an amazing product at an affordable price.
