Nail of the Day: Illamasqua makes amazing nail varnishes, as they call them, and Scarab is no exception. I felt like I achieved perfectly smooth, opaque coverage with only one coat, but decided to add a second just for good measure. The name of this gorgeous shimmery, deep, red color is a little confusing since scarabs aren’t red, but that doesn’t really bother me. This color is great for rocking that classic red nails look, but with a little twist. In the shade, this color looks almost like a blackened red on your nails, but in direct sunlight, the shimmer really catches the light and looks like a bright red. Scarab is one of my all time favorites. Illamasqua nail varnishes are so great you don’t need a basecoat or topcoat, but I used Orly’s Bonder and Polishield anyway and my manicure lasted well over a week, chip free.
Have you tried any Illamasqua nail varnishes? Do you think high end nail polish is worth the splurge? Let me know in the comments below!
