NOTD: Essie Mojito Madness

Essie Mojito Madness12Nail of the Day: Since tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, I thought a green nail polish would be appropriate. Mojito Madness is a medium-light green color, neither very yellow nor very blue. The polish is creamy without any shimmer, glitter or foil. I used Essie’s All in One basecoat and No Chips Ahead topcoat. I love this color; it’s a perfect, bright, but not neon, springtime shade of green.

All three lacquers applied very smoothly and easily, but the first time I used them, my manicure never dried. I left over half an hour between coats, didn’t use particularly thick coats, and left several hours before going to bed. The next day, the polish still wasn’t hardened and my nails had dents, dings, and smudges all over; there were also a ton of bubbles despite my not shaking any of the bottles to mix them. So, I took everything off and started over, this time using my Orly Bonder basecoat and Polishield topcoat, allowing each layer to harden before applying the next. I ended up with a couple bubbles, but it was way better. I’ve used the Essie basecoat and topcoat before without problems. I’m not sure what happened, but I would recommend applying this polish in three very thin layers, instead of one or two thick coats.

Will you be rocking green nail polish for St. Patrick’s Day? Do you like Essie nail polish? Have you had any similar problems with any of these? Let me know in the comments below!
