NOTD: Butter London – Gobsmacked

Butter London Gobsmacked9Nail of the Day: Gobsmacked is a dark graphite color with a ton of small flecks of silver glitter. Without a topcoat, it has a matte finish, which means it’s a little rough because of all the glitter. I actually really like the plain matte finish, but I added a topcoat after a couple days of wear just to show both finishes. Surprisingly, because I thought the glitter would make it a little difficult, this lacquer applied very nicely. I had to use three thin coats to get the opaque coverage I really wanted, but it dried pretty quickly so I was able to get through a basecoat of Butter London’s Nail Fertilizer, and all three coats of Gobsmacked in less than an hour. Like most matte-finish nail polish, it dries out quickly on your nails as well as in the bottle so I would advise working quickly and sealing the bottle between coats. If after a few months, the polish starts to get a little goopy, just use a drop or two of nail polish thinner (my favorite is Orly’s). Do not use nail polish remover to thin your nail polishes!! It will ruin them. I used Butter London’s Hardware topcoat, pictured below. Overall, I really like this color, both in a matte finish and glossy. It’s sort of a way to wear nearly-black polish with some sparkle :)
